Our Tunbridge Wells client contacted us to discuss a new design and build project.
Meeting with them gave us a good understanding of what they were looking for within the garden, the main use, materials and overall feel.
Establishing their initial ideas, needs and budget with a new kitchen being installed and patio doors fitted meant they could extend their kitchen and entertainment area by creating their ideal outdoor space while keeping to the existing garden concept.
Firstly, we surveyed the main area measuring out and taking levels making notes of the existing planting, access points and where the new patio doors were being installed.
Creating a scale plan drawing taking in the client’s ideas and needs we produced an initial drawing with a mood board showing materials, ideas and overall look giving our clients a real idea of how the garden would come together.
From this meeting, we were able to come up with a final design taking in all the factors and ideas discussed.
With final levels worked out taking in the area being on quite a significant slope working out the ideal level raising the threshold without so not to set in too deep and not to overlook the kitchen restricting the line of sight out onto the terrace and allowing as much light in as possible.
Creating several areas within this garden the main being a dining area with a bespoke hardwood bench built in levitating in the air seamlessly around the wall with an Oak Pergola constructed above making the perfect area to enjoy those warm evenings entertaining outdoors. The Pergola creating a level of hight inclosing you within the garden also allowing you the opportunity to install overhead heating if required.
With a small seating area at the far end of the garden, they can sit and be a central part of the garden enjoying the planted surrounding looking across the terrace back to the main house.
The lighting design and installation which sends a mood across the terrace enhancing the planting and creates a warm feel throughout the garden.
Having a large paved area there with plenty of space to entertain and using Cepes Sawn Limestone for the paving created a soft smooth natural stone finish.
Bordering the paving we used a brick that complemented the natural look of the paving as well as the traditional feel of the garden creating raised planters bordering the far side of the terrace.
Within the planting, we included all the usual everyday herbs for creating those perfect dinners to freshly pick and to bring back to the kitchen.
We really enjoyed this project from start the finish please feel free to take a look at some images of the finished project below.
