Our client had remodelled their house to incorporate an old barn which has now become a fabulous dining kitchen.

To make the most of this new room they wanted an extensive seating area close to the house and also to break up the old, rather utility, parking area.

The terrace that we constructed outside the kitchen is punctuated with raised beds and different areas of paving, including cobbles and setts, to provide interest and contrast.

The beds closest to the house are filled with herbs and sweetpea wigwams.  A gravel path with a pergola positioned over abundantly planted double borders leads down to the paddocks and provides a focal point to draw the eye to the countryside views beyond.

We removed the walls of an old well and, by adding a glass top and lighting, have turned it into a spectacular night-time feature near the back door.

The large parking area, now approached via newly installed electric gates, was broken up with further raised beds and paving, whilst still leaving plenty of room for turning and parking several cars.

We also gave the front garden a simple but effective makeover by putting in a pretty front gate and framing the pathway with deep new beds.

Whether you arrive by car or on foot, the grounds of this old farmhouse now make a wonderful welcome.
