Landscape Garden Design carried out by WW Landscapes, leading the way in Kent.
Located on the old Kent & Sussex hospital site in Tunbridge Wells this three-story townhouse didn’t come with a garden it deserved, but another blank canvas to transform.
This garden was designed by Karen McClure Garden Design and working closely with the clients taking in their individual needs to come up with this great design.
Wanting a garden in which they could entertain friends and family but also have a young family needed a safe outdoor space in which to play so came up with this concept for us to build.
The key feature in this garden is the artificial lawn, always looking green no cutting needed and can be used all year round without turning muddy in the winter months creating the feel of space within the garden with a multitude of uses. By simply lifting the bifold doors turns the lawn area into a trampoline where the children can play safely outside in the garden.
Keeping with a contemporary theme using modern materials we built the deck area using Millboard which is a composite decking available in a range of colours and textures modern or rustic. To create a seamless feel from the inside to outside of the garden the deck and lawn were built to the same height as the internal floors with bifold doors opening up to bring the two space together.
As in a lot of town gardens space can be an issue, the seating area at the bottom of the garden which you stepped down into to help the feel of enclosure and a bit more privacy the bench seats also doubled as storage boxes with hinged lids so you can keep the garden clutter free.
Behind the bench seating and to create a backrest was a rendered raised planter planted as the rest of the garden with jungly planting, lots of foliage and texture giving the garden a feeling of height in the planter and also softening the hard landscaping to the different areas of the garden.
